Strahan Heritage


Origins

You wil find that the Strahan name is a variation of the Scottish name Strachan, most agree that it'
proper pronunciation is as one would say Strawn. Yet here in the United States and in the UK it has become spelt Strahan.
Other name variations are Strawn, Strain, Strayhand, Strayhorn, Straughan, Straughn.

The origins are Scot/Irish one has yet to truly determine where the original Strahan clan migrated from was it Scotland to Ireland or vice-versa. The possiblity exists that it was from another locale altogether.

In Scotland the family is associated with the Marr tribe, as it is aligned with them in several circumstances. The history of the Scottish Strahans place them in the region of Kincardenshire
Scotland.
In Ireland the Region we find associated with the Strahan is in County Connacht, Tirconnal Province.

In the United States the earliest proven Strahan is found in Virginia Colony ca. 1650's the migration pattern for the Strahan Family was as with the remainder of the country that of ever westward. From Virginia to North Carolina to South Carolina and Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana on into Texas and eventually to California. today one can find this name throughout the United States and the World.
